Her photos are all so different from each other I find myself searching for her common style, but all i find is and edgy-ness, sort of sexy, maybe twinkle of mischeif in the eye? Open and loving? Not always, so I’m not sure. But with most of them, it feels as though, if you stare long enough into the eyes of the model. You can sit inside head and know exactly, (almost remarkably so) what they are thinking about. Or maybe that’s just me, maybe I’m just projecting from my American culturally/media biased opinion. I don’t know, I just …. hmmmm … I want to like her. But, then again, on the other hand, I don’t. This is so tolling. I know what you’re thinking, “is she honestly fretting over some photographer she has just recently discovered the identity of?” Be cause I want to that’s why. But I’m just dancing along the line that divides something good to talk about, and the over analyzed. But I want to know her. I can’t make my own opinion for some weird reason. it’s like what that guy from Postsecret said. If you over analyze a joke, it’s no longer funny. Grrrrr….. why is it so hard for me to decide such a trivial thing? Maybe it’s because I’m a Gemini? I don’t know, I want to delve deeper, and I know that I can … But I want to be the old me, dangerous play with fire procrastination me. Ooo it’s so tempting it kills me. But I’ll try not to be.
I’ll share some connections instead. And yeah, they just might touch on Unilever.
Annie Leibovitz~
Photographed Miley Cyrus for Vogue, not terribly controversial, my mom wouldn’t let me do it, but it’s not that big of deal
Also photographed the women in the Dove real beauty ads. ~ Wait for it, here comes the diconnect … Annie Leibovitz photographed the women, yes, but it’s not really her fault that they were photoshopped, you know? She’s under fire and takin the brunt of it for some art director who I would much enjoy mailing a shovel to, becaouse he/she is just digging themselves a deeper ditch based on what Dove’s publicist says …
“We have made the commitment not to distort any of our images to create an unrealistic or unattainable view of beauty. As we have said, this does not mean we do absolutely nothing to the images to make them suitable for printing. There is always something that needs a bit of adjustment to meet professional standards - even in the best run photo shoot with the best photographers. Removing or correcting these things does not mean that people don’t see the woman as she really is and does not change our commitment to real women.”
Wait so you’re contradicting any previous statements in which you denied photoshop, and basically saying you did Photoshop them. Funny how that works. : )
So yah Annie Leibovitz did take the photos, but she did not alter them in any way. Don’t head right back to the source and shoot the woman who took the shot. (oo a pun!) If you’re suuuppper duper confused, look up the Jack Johnson song, Cookie Jar, and itt willl alll make sense. Now, Rinse and Repeat, ahhhhh.
I guess what bothers me the most about Dove, right at this very moment, Is that I could make an awsome case on both sides of the field, for or against them.
it irks me even more that i love thier online ads… (Amy)
